What
Winglets should I use with my windshield?
Smaller shields usually need the Winglet System 3. The large center
wing can be cut to a shorter length in a matter of seconds. This
leaves a wing nicely proportioned to the shield
great for short
trips. Need extra protection for longer trips
snap on the
side winglets. It only takes a moment to change from no wings, just
center wing or the full set.
How far
will a Winglet raise air resistance?
Winglets give a shield a hand's width boost. This is often, but
not always, enough to make a significant reduction in wind noise.
Winglet boost 3" to 4" more than just Stealth Edging
but not as much as a 6" taller wind screen. Many riders get
the most benefit by combining an after market shield with Stealth
edging and our Winglets. What is best for you is somewhat subjective.
How are
Winglets attached?
Winglet base units (the part attached to the fairing) are tape
mounted and can be removed but are usually left on. The wings
and their arm assembly can be easily removed or reattached from/to
the base units. The base unit stays on the fairing because the
high bond tape is not practical to replace with every ride. Replacement
tape is available for remounting to a new fairing. A large plastic
screw allows quick, easy wing configuration changes.
How large
are the Winglets?
The wing platform comes already attached to the wing for your
bike type. The 3 inch tall wing sets about a ½ inch above the
shield giving an overall height of about 3 ½ inches. The main
wing can be bowed or left straight to match the contour of your
shield.
Can Winglets
be removed?
Winglet base units (the part attached to the fairing) are tape
mounted and can be removed but are usually left on. The base unit
stays on the fairing because the high bond tape is not practical
to replace with every ride. Replacement tape is available for
remounting to a new fairing. A large plastic screw allows quick,
